Our second daughter was born with a congenital heart defect called "Tetralogy of Fallot." My wife lost her job as a pharmeceutical sales rep, while pregnant, and I was a self-employed personal trainer. We decided to pay for "Cobra insurance", just in case something went wrong. After we found out about our daughter's condition, she had a life-saving open-heart at 6 months old. During our time at the hospital, we became aware of the financial burdens that other families had to bear as well. It was overwhelming for our family to think about our financial situation while our daughter was lying there with tubes in her chest. We thought that if we were in this situation, then what did other parents have to deal with? Parents should concentrate on their babies' well being, not money. This is how "We Heart Babies" was born. Starting a non-profit is our way to give back; to help other families in similar situations. We Heart Babies provides emotional support for families during their child's hospital stay and, financial assistance for medical expenses, and additional assistance as needed.
